Australia’s newest media company
Thursday, 22 October 2026
Southern Cross Media Group is one of Australia’s most prominent media companies, with a market-leading presence across broadcast television, audio, publishing and digital. Today, the business unveiled its bold new strategic direction and official rebrand to Seven Media Group, marking a transformational moment for Australian media.
Seven Media Group delivers unmatched reach across television, audio, streaming, digital and publishing. Reaching 20.4 million Australians every month, with more than 17 million registered users of the company’s content and unrivalled first party data, the network connects audiences across metro and regional communities, providing advertisers with unrivalled access to the high-impact moments that shape the national conversation.
Addressing agencies, clients, partners and members of the broader media industry at the Upfront launch, Managing Director and CEO Rohan Lund outlined the vision for the business:
“Our strategy is built upon a simple belief: in a fragmented media landscape, Australians still come together because while the media has changed dramatically, people haven’t.
“There are more screens, more platforms, more creators, more content, and more choices competing for our attention than at any point in history. Every swipe presents another option; every algorithm presents another distraction. Yet, Australians still seek the same things they always have: to know, to belong, to celebrate, to escape, to be entertained, to connect, and increasingly, to know who—and what—they can trust.
“Our job is to meet Australians where they are. Across television, audio, publishing, and digital, we continue to grow and engage audiences across every platform. No single channel replaces another—instead, our pillars operate both as powerful standalone media and as an interconnected ecosystem, where each platform amplifies the strength of the others to connect with viewers, listeners, and readers wherever they are. For our agency partners and clients, this ongoing momentum creates unprecedented opportunities to build deeper, more meaningful connections with audiences at scale.
“Seven Media Group will bring Australians together as a trusted voice in their lives. When we bring people together, we do it to grow the opportunity for all of us.”

The 2027 entertainment strategy continues, headlined by the international reality phenomenon I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! moving to Seven with new hosts Ricki-Lee and Jim Jefferies, alongside the brand new high-stakes prime-time game show Stacks of Cash to be hosted by Matt “Shirvo” Shirvington.
Digital expansion on 7plus continues at a record pace, now exceeding 15.5 million registered users and over 1.1 million daily active viewers, driving streaming consumption up 50% YoY.
With growing benchmarks, compelling content still to come this year, and unmatched Total TV scale, Seven enters 2027 perfectly positioned to deliver exceptional national reach and impact for commercial partners.
Seven Media Group Managing Director, Television and Streaming, Angus Ross said: “Seven continues to demonstrate that it is Australia’s most influential free-to-air network–the biggest in broadcast and now, the biggest in streaming. The results speak for themselves: dominant audience share across the board, anchored by Australia’s most trusted, leading news service, the country’s first choice for breakfast and morning TV, and growing audiences across every entertainment tentpole and live sports.
“Commercial advertising revenue naturally follows content that delivers at this scale. Looking ahead to the rest of 2026 and into 2027, our slate is primed to build on this momentum, giving our commercial partners absolute certainty through unparalleled reach and unmatched engagement across every screen.”

COMMERCIAL & DATA STRATEGY
Seven Media Group has unveiled a comprehensive commercial strategy, introducing a unified ecosystem that connects data intelligence, strategic creative partnership, and automated, cross-platform trading. Led by the launch of Seven iD, which aggregates first-party audience relationships across 7plus, LiSTNR, and The West Australian, and the creation of integrated commercial unit Studio Seven, Seven Media Group is setting a new benchmark for how brands target, engage, and activate Australian consumers at scale.
Alongside these strategic capabilities, Seven Media Group revealed its trading roadmap, Phoenix Exchange, an advanced, tech-agnostic platform built to meet advertisers and agencies wherever they are by offering dynamic audience execution across broadcast, streaming, podcasts, and digital channels and making a defined portion of Seven’s video and audio inventory available through flexible buying workflows that connect seamlessly with our customers’ preferred technologies.
The launch of Seven iD, Studio Seven and the development of Phoenix Exchange represent a comprehensive evolution in how Seven Media Group partners with the advertising industry. By connecting intelligence, creativity and trading capability into a single, cohesive framework, the Group is delivering a modern commercial proposition built to give advertisers simpler access, deeper audience engagement and proven ROI across Australia’s most powerful media assets.
To power this unified data approach, the Seven Network has extended its partnership with LANDMARKS ID to launch SCOPE, an advanced audience intelligence platform that feeds directly into Seven iD. By combining consumer insights from a panel of over 500,000 Australians with OzTAM’s VOZ Total TV measurement data, SCOPE moves beyond traditional demographic surveys to measure actual brand and category buyer reach. This enables agencies and advertisers to precisely evaluate audience engagement, content alignment, and sponsorship impact across Seven’s entire ecosystem, from broadcast television, 7plus, major entertainment tentpoles, sponsorship assets and premium sport content such as AFL, cricket, the NFL and Supercars.
Chief Revenue Officer, Natalie Harvey, said: “Our commercial roadmap is built around solving real business challenges for our partners. By combining the scale of our first-party data through Seven iD with the creative capabilities of Studio Seven and the automated trading power of Phoenix Exchange, we are creating a simpler, more connected way for advertisers to engage Australia’s premium audiences. We are making it easier for brands to trade across our entire media ecosystem. Whether through integrated Total TV and audio trading, leveraging the trust of The Nightly and The West Australian assets, authentic content integrations, or live data collaboration, our focus is clear: removing friction, improving efficiency, and delivering measurable commercial outcomes for our clients.”
